Sara takes oath as PH’s 15th vice president

VICE President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio took her oath of office as the 15th vice president of the Philippines on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

Duterte was accompanied by her parents, outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte and Elizabeth Zimmerman.

The ceremony, held on June 19, 2022 at the San Pedro Square in Davao City, is the first-ever inauguration of a Philippine vice president held in Mindanao.

The Vice President-elect will officially assume office on June 30, 2022.

Duterte-Carpio is the running mate of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. The tandem garnered over 31 million of the votes cast in the May 9 general elections.

The presidential daughter, who is an outgoing mayor of Davao City, bested eight other candidates for the vice presidency, the second highest elective office in the
