Probe into killing of teacher, student continues

AUTHORITIES continue to investigate the killing of a public school teacher and a student in Calbayog City, as the public demanded swift justice for the victims.

“We will not take this incident lightly. The police force of Calbayog City strongly condemns the killing of Jade Andre Bestudio and Roan Jeanelle Lamparas,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ericson Del Rosario, chief of Calbayog City Police Station.

Del Rosario ordered “immediate pursuit operation and steadfast investigation” following the incident.

“Our police officers shall move into the streets, barangays and look for possible witnesses or lead that will result in the identification and location of the suspects. Further, there will also be designated personnel to conduct patrolling and establish checkpoint in strategic places as proactive measure in deterrence of crime incidents in the city,” the police official added.

Bestudio, a 20-year-old student, was found dead with a single gunshot wound in his head around 10:30 a.m. at the roadside of Barangay San Policarpo, Calbayog, on June 14, 2022.

Around 8:10 p.m. of the same day, 23-year-old teacher Lamparas was found lying naked and lifeless on a grassy area along the diversion road in Barangay Bagacay.

The two victims were said to be in a relationship.

“The investigating team are backtracking and reviewing the CCTVs in the area of Calbayog City. There are also interviews conducted that will help in establishing the fact that surrounds the circumstances of the said killing incident,” the Calbayog City Police Station said.

Del Rosario urged the public “to help the police officers in the course of investigation on the said Bestudio and Lamparas case.”

“Any information that may facilitate the identification of the suspects will be treated with utmost confidentiality, hence, do not hesitate to call or send SMS/text message to the police station or through our hotline Number 09054254511 or through our FB Account Pulis Calbayog,” the police said.
