Honest cop receives award

POLICE Chief Master Sergeant Julie Antor has received a Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) in recognition of his honesty during the traditional Monday Flag raising ceremony at the Camp Kangleon in Palo, Leyte Monday, June 20, 2022.

Antor, a member of the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (Avesgroup) Eastern Visayas, found and returned a baggage containing valuable items and a P200,000 while he and his team were conducting foot patrol at the arrival area of the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City on May 7, 2022.

"I always encourage our personnel to be approachable, presentable, and dependable, sustaining not just great service to the public but for safer and secured airports all throughout the country," said Brigadier General Andre Dizon, director of Avesgroup.

"The honesty shown by the team of PCMS Antor is indeed worthy of recognition. He and his team proved to the public that police officers are ready to serve and protect," added Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas director Brigadier General Bernard Banac.

According to the police regional command, The team looked for the owner of the said baggage and cordoned the area while awaiting personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and K9 for inspection.

The baggage was thoroughly inspected for safety and bomb clearing procedures and yielded negative for explosives or any incendiary materials.

It was then brought to the lost and found office of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines-Security and Intelligence Service (Caap-CSIS).

“Having been manually inspected, the baggage was found to be containing valuable items and a big amount of money,” the police regional office said.

On the same day, the bag was properly turned over to the rightful owner, Rhoderick Codog, who affirmed that his belongings were all intact and in good condition. (SunStar Philippines)
