GOVERNOR Dennis “Delta” Pineda highlighted a 10-point agenda that he said would bring the Capitol to the people.
Pineda made this announcement yesterday during his oathtaking for his second term as governor. The oathtaking was held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall with provincial government officials and department heads in attendance.
“Yes I am happy to announce that my 10-point agenda is almost accomplished in my first term as governor,” Pineda told SunStar Pampanga.
Pineda's 10-point agenda focuses on reinventing the structures of the provincial government, expansion of health services and facilities, expansion of educational assistance and academic programs; improvement of peace and order situation, generation of employment and welfare protection for the labor force, strengthening of the province's disaster resilience, adaptive capacity, climate change mitigation efforts and environmental management system, boosting of agriculture and livestock sector, enhancement of social services for vulnerable and sectoral groups, enhancement of infrastructure and facilities, and implementation of the Pampanga Megalopolis Plan.
“I was able to do this because of the joint action of Vice Governor [Lilia] Nanay [Pineda], the entire Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Provincial Administrator Attorney Charlie Chua, Special Assistant to the Governor Angelina Blanco, department heads and Capitol staff,” he said.
Pineda said that on his second term, he will provide adequate funding and services to agriculture and health programs. The governor hopes for enough food supplies at affordable prices, and that the livelihood of food producers improve.
He added that the health system must respond to the next emergencies caused by new viruses and diseases.
“We will strengthen our relationship and cooperation with the business and labor sectors for the rapid economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic,” Pineda said.
The reelected governor said that he expects that the national agencies will have more devolved services due to the decision of the Supreme Court in the Mandanas-Garcia cases that local governments will not only receive internal revenue allotment but also share in the entire national income.
He said that he will move for the strengthening of people's ability to recover from disasters.
“We will continue to support senior citizens, PWDs, solo parents, indigenous people as well as coastal barangays. We will expand our food aid,” Pineda said.
The governor took his oath of office before Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda.
“I believe that my mother laid the foundation of a government that values the poor more. Mom is the example I follow.With your trust in my leadership, I promise to bring the Capitol closer to the barangays,” Pineda said.
