Iloilo City beach forest site clearing starts

ILOILO CITY Mayor Jerry Treñas initiated the establishment of 1.6-hectare Iloilo City Beach Forest at the mouth of Iloilo-Batiano River and coastlines of Barangay Boulevard in Molo district which will start development works soon.

This is in line with one of the priority projects to counter climate change and mitigate pollution.

The area was cleared of illegal structures to pave way for the establishment of Botanical Garden and Biodiversity Conservation Park.

The mayor took to task the City Environment and Natural Resources Office to supervise the project in collaboration with Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office 6 and partners.

This is one of the three Tree Park Networks, together with Iloilo City Tree Park at Brgy. Lanit in Jaro and Mangrove Eco-Park at Barangay Hinactacan in La Paz. (PR)
