BARILI Mayor Julieto “Julie” Flores has ordered to check on reports about the cases of typhoid fever and dengue in the municipality.
This after a netizen believed to be a resident of Barili posted in her Facebook account photos of patients accommodated along the hallway of a medical clinic in Barili as rooms were already filled to capacity.
“Tungod sa pagkuyanap sa gitawag nga typhoid fever (tipos), dengue ug uban pa. Nagsugwak na ang mga pasyente nga gi-admit sa tambalanan sa lungsod sa Barili,” read part of the photo caption posted by a certain Ate Mar in her social media account.
(Due to the spread of typhoid fever, dengue and other illnesses, a throng of patients are being admitted to a medical clinic in Barili).
Flores said he would coordinate with the municipal health officer to check where the patients had contracted their illnesses.
Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection that is often associated with ingesting contaminated food or water.
“Atong giingnan ang atong Municipal Health Officer to conduct investigation kon asa gyud or unsay hinungdan nganong taas kaayo ang kaso. Kasagaran ang typhoid man gyud ang gi-focus ron so naa silay gipangitaan nga lugar, gi-check kay basin didto maoy hinungdan (We already instructed our municipal health officer to conduct an investigation to determine why the cases are so high. They are now focusing on tracking the origin of the typhoid fever cases),” Flores said on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
Dengue cases
Flores also ordered the municipal health officer to come up with a data on dengue cases in the municipality. The muncipality recorded eight dengue cases from April to May this year with no deaths.
Dr. Christina Giango, head of the Provincial Health Office, said they will conduct an investigation on the said cases on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
