THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Mafar-Barmm) is constructing a P30-million ice plant with cooler storage to improve the livelihood of farmers and fisher folks in Lanao del Sur.
The project with complete facilities will be built at the GMA Integrated Terminal in Poblacion village, Marawi City.
Abdulgafar Sansarona, Mafar-Lanao del Sur chief agriculturist, said: "Once the project is completed, our farmers can store their fresh products, and our fishers can avail of ice blocks for a very minimal cost."
Meanwhile, Marawi City Agriculture Officer Anisa Busara said they are grateful for being the pioneering beneficiary of ice plant project.
"The project will be a big help not only for the farmers and fisherfolks but the whole community of Marawi City," Busara said.
With the capacity of 10 tons, the construction of the ice plant is expected to be finished within 120 calendar days. (SunStar Zamboanga)
