FOR Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, incoming Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants to show that his administration is giving priority to the agriculture sector.
Lacson said this Tuesday, June 21, 2022, following the development that Marcos is taking the post as concurrent secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
“I think he (Marcos) just wants to tell us that he is making that a priority, being an agricultural country," he added.
Marcos earlier said he will be the agriculture secretary “at least for now,” citing the urgency of addressing rising food prices.
He said the agriculture sub-agencies that need review or restructuring are the National Food Authority and the Food Terminal Inc.
The president said they have changed their functions over the years, and it is probably time to return them to their original functions.
