Fire hits store in Barangay T. Padilla, Cebu City

AN ESTIMATED P1.8 million worth of damage was reported after a fire that hit an establishment on T. Padilla St., Barangay T. Padilla, Cebu City past 9 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022.

Personnel of a laundry shop located near the poultry feeds supply store that was hit by the fire reported a loud explosion. They said the fire started on the second floor of the building where the stock room was located.

"Actually, daghan mga customer dinhi pero wa mi kadungog nga naay buto. Ang nakakuan adto ang katong among kasikbit nga naay [washing machine] nga naay niulbo," said Fortunato Gisalago, a salesclerk, in an interview Thursday, June 23.

(Actually, there were customers here but we didn't hear any explosion. It was our neighbor in a [laundry shop] who noticed the explosion.)

"Taud-taud, ang akong kauban usa nakakita na og aso kalit kaayo ang kayo nisilaob. Nanggawas dayon mi," he added.

(Eventually, my colleague saw the fire broke out. So, we immediately ran outside.)

Disalago said that a fire truck that was waiting for a traffic light on the street to turn green responded immediately.

The fire was declared under control at 9:18 a.m. Fire out was declared at 9:22 a.m.

The Cebu City Fire Office reported that the affected establishment was a poultry feeds supply store that was occupied by four individuals. The building is owned by Avelino de Manuel.
