ONLY individuals with booster shots can participate in the Ironman 70.3 in Cebu on Aug. 7 this year.
During the coordination meeting of the technical working group at the Waterfront Airport Hotel in Lapu-Lapu City on Thursday, June 23, 2022, It was emphasized that all participants, including the organizers, must be inoculated with at least the first booster dose before they could get their identification cards or accreditation.
Princess Galura, president and general manager of Sunrise Events Inc., race organizer, said all of them should have a QR code to check whether their vaccination cards have already been uploaded.
“Will have to declare their health declaration online, including showing proof of vaccination,” said Galura, adding they want to show that they still follow the protocols despite the Alert Level 1 status in Lapu-Lapu City, where the central event would be held in Mactan Newtown.
There will also be temperature checks at every entry point, which will be facilitated by the Department of Health (DOH).
Galura said each person must have a temperature of 37.5 so they can enter the perimeters and join the event.
Should they reach 37.5 and above, they have to wait for at least five minutes to check again the temperature.
“If it’s still 37.5, we will require them to do an antigen test on the spot,” she said.
Galura also emphasized that all persons at the venue must wear their masks, including the participants, adding they can only unmask themselves when they swim.
