INCOMING Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte is set to take his oath on Monday, June 27, 2022.

This was confirmed by outgoing Councilor and Vice Mayor-elect Melchor Quitain Jr. to SunStar Davao in an interview on Thursday, June 23.

The councilor, who is also the outgoing Council Floor Leader, said the oathtaking will be at the Sangguniang Panlungsod in the afternoon, wherein the incoming mayor's sister, outgoing Mayor and incoming Vice President Sara Duterte, and his father, outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, will be attending the event.

All of the elected councilors, some members of the House of Representatives, and other special guests will also be attending.

He said there will be tight security, considering the President and the incoming Vice President will be in the area.

Quitain, meanwhile, said that one of the highlights of Sebastian's speech is his plans for the city for the next three years.

"He will bare all his plans, in general, for the city. In that way, I could pick up his plans, and that will also be our direction. We need to have one direction only," the incoming vice mayor said.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Spokesperson Police Major Ma. Teresita Gaspan confirmed in a press conference Wednesday morning, June 22, that the security forces will implement the measures executed during the oathtaking of Sara on June 19 on San Pedro Street.

"Ifa-fine tune lang, dugangan, although dili na pareha sa inauguration ni VP-elect [Sara]. Ganunpaman (We will fine tune, and add some measures, although this will no longer be similar to the inauguration of VP-elect. Nonetheless), we still prepare more than the standard security," Gaspan said.

Sara, on Monday, June 20, urged the City Government employees to rally behind the incoming mayor.
