Lacson: My sister from another mother

"TRUE friendship isn't about being inseparable, it's being separated and nothing changes."

This quote best describe the relationship that I fondly share with my bestfriend Karen. She is my BFF (bestfriend forever) and it's true that while we may not see each each other very often nowadays, she will always have a special part of me and vice versa.

Karen and I met in high school when we became classmates starting in third year. Since we went home together from school and riding the jeep from the "lipatan", we really had a strong friendship that even if we parted ways in college, we still regard each other as the closest friends ever. Karen is a very generous friend. She used to treat me during recess and our after-school dates in our favorite restaurant in palengke, K's Diner. I remember since I only have enough money for the day, Karen will always volunteer to pay for our food.

I am so proud of her as she is a professional pediatrician now. There are many perks of having a BFF doctor who even stands as the ninang of my first-born son Marco. Of course, I have someone whom I can ask for medical advice anytime without having to set an appointment and go to the clinic. She would usually send the prescriptions online and we could instantly buy the needed medicines especially during emergency situations.

We both attended each other's wedding because it is a mortal sin to skip one of the most important event in our lives. I got her as my Bride's Maid, and I stood as her Maid of Honor. I was so happy when she asked me to be her MOH because that only proved that I am still her bestest friend in the world.

In celebration of her birthday on June 23, I offer this tribute to her in gratitude of her true friendship and love for me. I would just like to let her know also that I am always here for her and my godson. Happy birthday, Best! Love you always!
