THE City Government of Bacolod inaugurated the three projects worth almost P30 million under its “Green, Green Green Program” Friday, June 24, 2022.

Outgoing Mayor Evelio Leonardia with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Councilor-elect Em Ang led the inauguration of the improvement and rehabilitation of the Bacolod City Rizal Park in Barangay 16 and the promenade in front of the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS).

Leonardia also inaugurated the improvements of the public open spaces at the Bacolod Government Center (BGC).

The projects were completed with allocations from the Local Government Support Fund-Assistance to Cities (LGSFA) of the national government.

Leonardia said they allocated P9.4 million for the rehabilitation of the Rizal Park include the provision of concrete curbs and gutter, Bacolod Order and Safety Office (Poso) outpost and benches, shrubs and flowering plants, sidewalk and permeable pavers, additional street lamps and recreational equipment such as children's playground and an outdoor fitness area.

Meanwhile, P6.5 million was allocated for the NOHS promenade or the improvement of its sidewalks, gutters, ramps, curbs, decorative wall and pond.

It also included the new plant boxes, concrete benches, waiting shed and steel street railings in the area.

Leonardia said they also alloted more than P10 million for the improvement of public open spaces like the children’s park and Zen Garden at the BGC.

The mayor also expressed his gratitude to the national government for extending its support to the City of Bacolod.

“These projects were completed through the budget from the national government and largely because of how we had connected ourselves with Secretary Wendel Avisado. This money is meant only for parks and cannot be used for something else,” Leonardia said.
