NLEX, Hataw intensify road safety programs

NORTH Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation recently rolled out the NLEX Biyahero Road Safety Caravan in partnership with the Haulers and Truckers Association in the Watersouth (Hataw), one of the major trucker organizations in the country.

NLEX Biyahero Road Safety Caravan aims to promote safety among Hataw member companies including their drivers and employees by conducting seminars focused on safe driving and vehicle preventive maintenance and organizing fun activities that instill safety among participants.

NLEX Corporation President J. Luigi L. Bautista said that the company always strives to provide a safe and secure expressway as it is part of its customer value proposition.

“We believe that programs such as the NLEX Biyahero Road Safety Caravan will help influence our stakeholders to be advocates of road safety and remind them of their responsibility in making our expressways safe,” Bautista said.

The whole-day road safety initiative highlighted two road safety seminars: the NLEX Usapang Driver that is geared towards educating on safe expressway driving and the Proper Truck Maintenance seminar conducted by the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). Joel C. Agcaoili of Hino Motors Corporation represented TMA in sharing field expertise on the subject.

“Safe and disciplined driving is clearly a shared responsibility. We want to establish safety into the minds of drivers so that it becomes part of their behavior and attitude. Through seminars and forums and assisting our members to implement road safety programs, we hope to achieve our goal of eliminating road accidents caused by negligence or driver error,” Hataw President Don Manebo said.

“The NLEX Biyahero Road Safety Caravan aligns with Hataw’s advocacy to promote road safety amongst its truck operator members and their drivers thru collaborations and partnerships with transport stakeholders including NLEX Corporation,” Manebo added.

Aside from the seminars, participants were in for some informative and engaging activities, from interactive games that raise awareness on road safety such as driving simulator to drunk driving goggles and others.

Bautista also expressed NLEX Corporation’s commitment to promote safe driving saying, “We stay true to our commitment in delivering customer-centric programs to promote safe driving as this stemmed from our main thrust to provide seamless and hassle-free expressway experience. Our strong partnership with our stakeholders including Hataw makes it easier to echo our advocacies to a wider scale for a safer NLEX and SCTEX journey.”

Over the years, NLEX Corporation conducts road safety programs to exemplify the culture of safe driving amongst motorists and other stakeholders.

And as an ISO-certified tollway operator, the company continues to beef up road safety initiatives through various programs upholding standard of excellence in the industry.
