The Gilas Women put down Samoa, 94-65, to complete a sweep of their games in Division A of the 2022 FIBA Under-16 Women's Asian Championship Division B on Sunday at the Prince Hamza Hall in Amman.
Kristan Geyl Yumul continued her hot shooting streak as she drained five three-pointers, just one game after making nine. She finished with 22 points, five assists, three rebounds, and two steals as the Philippines earned an outright spot in the semifinals.
Naomi Panganiban added 14 points, seven boards, five assists, and three steals, while Princess Villarin had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Samantha Medina, Camille Nolasco, and Kailah Jade Oani all chipped in nine points apiece, while Gabby Ramos tallied 10 rebounds and four steals, to go with four points for the Gilas Women.
The Philippines broke the game wide open in the second half as they turned a 49-34 halftime lead into a massive 83-55 bulge. The lead reached a high of 31 at 94-63, after Sierra Jade Patricio canned a triple with 52.1 seconds remaining.
The Gilas Women will play in the semifinals on Wednesday against the winner of the playoff game between Group A third seed Samoa, and the two-seed of Group B, which will be decided between Iran, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, and Jordan.
