4 fisherfolk dead, one missing off Bataan coast

FOUR fishermen were dead, while one remained missing after their boat capsized off Bagac, Bataan on Friday, June 24, 2022, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Sunday, June 26.

The PCG Morong substation identified the fatalities as Alexander Mesina, 52; Tirso de Guia, 45; Edgar Balboa, 51; and Gregorio Limboc, 43, all from Nasugbu, Batangas.

They were all crew members of the Fishing Boat Twin Sister, which was piloted by Gregorio Abong, 52, who survived the incident.

The missing person was Jemar Dacillo, 26.

The boat was carrying 50 individuals, including the casualties, when it capsized some 18 nautical miles from Bagac.

Forty-five individuals were rescued.

The PCG said the boat overturned off Barangay Saysain after it met strong waves. (SunStar Philippines)
