RonBucz-A completed their sweep of Division 1 of the Cebu Youth Basketball League Summer Showcase Under-16 presented by the MVP Sports Foundation, with an emphatic 85-69 victory over Future Basketball Academy last Friday at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
Know The Culture MVP Khian Panerio led the way for the winning side with 18 points, and five assists. RonBucz, led by multi-titled youth coach and UV Green Lancer legend Ronald Bucao, stymied FBA’s offensive execution throughout the game, forcing 33 turnovers that led to a whopping 42 points off turnovers. Kent Castro led the defensive masterpiece with six steals.
RonBucz-A turned the game wholly in their favor in the third, when Panerio, John Bual, and Benedict Paca played key roles in a searing 30-17 rally that brought the lead up to 24, 68-45. They then sustained the dominating effort in the fourth, controlling the game and preventing FBA from coming up with a big run.
Ronbucz-A got 14 points from Kenneth Cole while Bual added 13 markers, seveb boards, five assists, and three steals.
FBA was led by Jances Anacta with 15 points. Guard Louiegee de los Angeles had 13 points but finished with an abysmal eight turnovers.
In the third-place game, CHBC-JRS overcame a tough A1 team with an 83-78 win.
Mythical 5 member Alden Cainglet topscored for the winning team with 25 points, and eight rebounds. He was supported by Jelomar Rota who had 17 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks before fouling out.
The tournament’s Mythical Five was composed of Panerio and Cole from RonBucz, Chedreyc Benitez from FBA, Alden Cainglet from CHBC-Jrs, and Jireh Caro from A1.
