INCOMING Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte declared that economic recovery and poverty alleviation will be at the forefront of his administration.

“The City Government will make sure that business will continue to operate. Job opportunities will be available and our citizens remain safe and healthy,” Duterte said during his speech held in front of the City Hall on June 27.

Mayor Sebastian Duterte addressed the crowd gathered outside the City Hall building shortly after his oath-taking inside the session hall of the Sangguniang Panglungsod (City Council) together with the other elected City Government officials.

The new Mayor said the city government will work closely with the local and foreign business sectors to explore more investment opportunities in the city.

“The local government is open and ready to listen to your suggestions and to work with you in enhancing the business climate in the city,” Duterte said.

Duterte cited the digitalization of government transactions as a way of enhancing the business climate in Davao City to attract more businesses and to sustain existing ones.

“It is our goal of digitalizing of public transactions, the delivery of govt services must be swifter and much more efficient, it is high time that we upgraded our processes on par with international standards,” the new Mayor said.

He said the local government will ensure global competitiveness in terms of government operations. The young Mayor said that taking advantage of available technology will make the government keep up with the fast-changing trends in the market.

“The transacting public deserves the best public service experience,” Duterte said.

He vowed to pursue the streamlining of government processes and declared that inefficiencies in the government will not be tolerated. PIA-DAVAO
