TWO persons were electrocuted in the cities of San Carlos and Bago, Negros Occidental yesterday and Monday, June 28 and 27, respectively.

Police identified the fatalities as John Lloyd Buenaflor, 17, of Barangay Tagda in Hinigaran town and Julian Duroca, 43, of Barangay Guadalupe in San Carlos City.

Truck driver Hernando Evangelista said that Buenaflor was assisting in the loading of a backhoe into the truck’s trailer at Purok Michelle, Barangay Dulao in Bago City past 5 p.m. Monday when the incident happened.

Investigation showed that the lever of the backhoe accidentally touches the live wire of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative while it is being loaded in the truck.

Senior Master Sergeant Job Ogares, chief investigator of Bago City Police Station, said the victim, who was at the time standing at the truck’s trailer, suddenly got electrocuted.

Ogares said Buenaflor died upon arrival at the Bacolod City South General Hospital.

Meanwhile, Duroca was found dead by Camilo Parang, a company guard of a fishpond and resident of Sitio Santo Niño in Barangay Guadalupe, past 5 a.m. yesterday.

Master Sergeant Jose Sanny Boy Algarme said that Duroca could have been electrocuted by the live wires surrounding the fishpond.*
