THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has reminded the public of the resumption of voter's registration on July 4, 2022.

Lawyer Wilfred Jay Balisado, regional director of Comelec - Western Visayas, said all Comelec offices will be open from Mondays to Saturdays for the registration of voters until July 23 without extension.

Those who could register are those who will be turning 18 years old on December 5 this year.

Those who will be turning 15 years old on December 5, 2022 can also register as Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters.

"We are doing all the preparations for the barangay and SK elections despite some moves to postpone it," Balisado said in a phone interview on Thursday, June 29.

He said the Comelec is making all the preparations for the upcoming polls.

Based on the Omnibus Election Code, the voter's registration must be done four months prior to the election date," Balisado pointed out.

Meanwhile, Balisado's last day as the regional director of Comelec-Western Visayas is today, June 30.

He is already due to return to his original post in Zamboanga Peninsula.

This means that Atty. Dennis Ausan will also go back as Comelec-Western Visayas director.

The Comelec regional director and officers who were subjected to reshuffling prior to the May 9, 2022 elections will return to their original posts on July 1.*
