ILOILO City residents are encouraged to get booster shot to add protection as Covid-19 cases are increasing.

Mayor Jerry Treñas encouraged eligible adults to avail themselves of booster and second booster, and children who are eligible for vaccination and booster to visit district health centers as the limited supply will last until July only.

“If cases continue to increase, we might be elevated to higher Alert Level. We again remind the public to practice health protocols such as use of face mask and sanitize hands regularly," Treñas said.

Those with symptoms or experiencing flu-like symptoms are urged to undergo RT-PCR testing at La Paz plaza gym.

The city is discouraging the use of do-it-yourself antigen test as it is not a reliable tool for COVID testing compared to the gold standard which is the RT-PCR.

City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of City Health Office (CESU-CHO) recorded 39 Covid cases on Monday June 27, the highest so far this month.

The average daily case posted 109 percent increase as it doubled to 16 cases for the period of June 16-22 compared to eight cases for the period of June 9-15. (PR)
