11 LGUs in Davao recognized for best Covid-19 management efforts

THE Department of Health-Davao Region (DOH-Davao) acknowledged Tuesday, June 28, 11 local government units (LGUs) in the region for “exceptional efforts” in Covid-19 management as well as vaccination implementation.

During the face-to-face Covid-19 vaccination planning and meeting with the Regional Vaccination Operations Center, DOH-Davao Director Dr. Annabelle Yumang said the recognized areas for best Covid-19 management efforts are Caraga town in Davao Oriental (Best Pediatric and A2 Senior Citizen Vaccination); Tarragona, Davao Oriental (Best A3 Individuals with Comorbidities Vaccination); and Mati City, Davao Oriental (Best Last Mile Implementation).

Also, Padada town in Davao del Sur was cited as the Best in Strategic Implementation; the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte for Best Vaccine Handling; and Davao City as the Most Innovative and Highest Eligible Population Fully Vaccinated.

For provinces, Davao Occidental was cited as Most Consistent; Davao del Sur - Most Resilient; Davao Oriental - Most Excellent in Multisectoral Collaboration; Davao del Norte - Best in Logistics Management; and Davao de Oro - Best in Delivery Strategies on hard to reach areas.

"The fight against COVID-19 is not DOH's alone. Partners and people on the ground are also instrumental to it," Yumang said.

In the afternoon, DOH and LGU health office representatives sat down for a Covid-19 vaccination review and microplanning session. This was facilitated by a United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) technical team together with the DOH Field Implementation and Coordination Team (FICT) for Visayas and Mindanao.

The activity allowed the participants to continuously work on efforts that help manage COVID-19 as the Davao Region enters the new normal.

According to the DOH tracker as of June 29, Davao Region has currently 175 active cases. Total cases already reached 140,982, with 12 new cases. RGL
