CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy has assumed office on Thursday, June 30, 2022 after the outgoing mayor Oscar Moreno handed over the city's office seal.
Uy was greeted by several department heads and employees upon arriving at the city hall on Thursday. He then proceeded to the city mayor's office where he was embraced by Moreno at least twice.
On June 26, Uy took his oath of office with a promise of sweeping tax reliefs for the business sector and increasing the city's scholars from more than 7,000 to 10,000. He also promised a general amnesty on all traffic rule violation fines for drivers of jeepney and motorela.
"Tungod sa kataas sa produktong petrolyo, atong iplastar ang mga terminal ug rota sa atong mga jeep, motorela ug taxi. Atong hangyoon ang atong mga konsehal sa dakbayan nga tagaan na nato og amnesty ang mga drayber nga adunay mga penalty sa dugay na kaayo nga panahon," Uy said during his inauguration speech on June 30.
The Cagayan de Oro City Hall turnover on June 30 took place at the same when President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. took his oath of office at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.
