THERE'S more to look forward in the uptown area of Cagayan de Oro as SM jump-starts its mall development project with the opening of The Northwing on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
The Northwing is a four-level building that will connect to the main mall. It brings additional leasable spaces of 63 units, spreading across 8,000 square meters of food and retail space.
This building house a mix of new food and beverage concepts, specialty, wellness and services.
On the ground floor of The Northwing, you will find shops such as The Coffee Lab, Tiger Sugar, Magsugba Ta, Fat Chef, Pawssentials, and Batinga Animal Clinic.
On the second floor, shoppers and mall goers will enjoy the products and services of St. June Optical, Enchante, Salon de Rose, Move Dance Studio, MCM Salon, 80 degrees, Skin Rev, Mich & Myl, David's, Twinhead, Smile Designs, and Llanillo Optical.
The building also has over 300 parking slots located on its third and fourth floors.
The creation of The Northwing is SM's response to the needs of the market in Cagayan de Oro, according to Oliver John Tiu, the vice president and head of operations-Mindanao Division of SM Shopping Center Management Corporation.
"Ang Cagayan de Oro City is really the logistics hub of Northern Mindanao. Base sa among market study, the market is ready for expansion," Tiu said.
As its currently at its soft opening, Tiu said that SM plans to have the grand opening of The Northwing in October of this year, with 70 percent or more of its tenants opening for the public.
"Hopefully by October we can really open officialy the door kay kani importante maabrihan man para the people will know nga naa na ning Northwing building," Tiu said.
Present during the opening of The Northwing on Thursday were Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy and Department of Tourism-Northern Mindanao Director Marie Elaine Unchuan.
The SM City Cagayan de Oro uptown first opened in 2002 as the first SM supermall in Northern Mindanao. Tiu said that this mall is currently in its second phase.
