FORMER Vice President Leni Robredo launched on Friday, July 1, 2022, her Angat Buhay Foundation, a continuation of her initiatives during her six-year stint, especially amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Robredo said that through the foundation, with corporate name Angat Pinas Inc., they will continue their anti-poor programs with focus on food security, nutrition and healthcare; education; disaster relief and rehabilitation; and community engagement.

“Gutom at sakit ang karaniwang kalaban ng mga nasa laylayan. Malaking problema natin ang stunting. Kapag nagkulang sa pagkain ang mga bata, maaga siyang mapapag-iwanan at habang buhay niya kakailanganin maghabol,” she said in her speech.

For education, Robredo said they will continue establishing community learning hubs, which they started amid the pandemic, to assist students in school works while face-to-face learning has yet to resume.

She said they have already opened 129 community learning hubs across the country.

Since in-person classes have resumed, Robredo said learning hubs will be converted to remedial centers to boost the reading and mathematical ability of the students.

Robredo said they have already signed a memorandum of agreement with the Rotary Club of Makati for the construction of classrooms and dormitories.

She said they are open for volunteers who will take part in their programs.

Initially, the foundation will source its funds from the money that would be raised from selling nearly a thousand artworks she received during the campaign.

She said it will be displayed at the Museum of Hope in Quezon City. (SunStar Philippines)
