THE National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) on Friday, July 1, 2022, called on the public to apply as registered voters as soon as possible, as the voter registration period will only run for less than a month.

In a social media post, Namfrel urged the public to not wait any longer in getting registered for the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls.

"Make sure that you are registered in time for the December 5 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE)," said Namfrel.

"Find out where your local Comelec (Commission on Elections) is and go as early as you can," it added.

The Comelec is set to resume voter registration from July 4 to 23, 2022.

The poll body earlier projected that the total number of registered voters for the barangay polls will be 66,053,357.

During the May 9 national and local polls, there were a total of 65.7 million registered voters.

As for SK voters, they are projected to reach 23,059,227 by the end of the registration period.

In the May 2018 polls, there were 20.6 million registered youth voters. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
