THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North has conducted a field investigations on a 136-hectare property located in Sitio Cubay, Barangay Refugio, Calatrava town recently.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Melvida Corazon Mercado, who led the activity, said the agency is committed to providing farmers with a just, safe, and equitable society as well as improving the quality of their lives.

“It is due time to validate and attest to the authenticity of the information on hand,” she added.

The property is managed by Menchaca Integrated Agricultural Corporation covering a total area of 136.7979 hectares.

According to Section 1 of Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 2022, the continuous conduct of field investigation is to further verify the land usage in the areas compared to the advance survey plan (ASP) or approved survey plan (Advasp).

Also stipulated in Section 2 of the administrative order that, "Based on the Field Validation Report (FIR) and ASP/Advasp, the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) shall proceed to determine the value of just compensation of the subject landholding.”

“Consequently, upon completion of the land valuation, the LBP shall prepare and send the Memorandum of Valuation (MOV), together with the Land Valuation Worksheet (LVW), to Darpo for the preparation of the Notice of Land Valuation and Acquisition (NLVA). However, if Advasp was used in the initial valuation, the NLVA shall be issued only upon the receipt of the ASP,” it added.

The activity is conducted as part of the process of land acquisition and distribution (LAD) under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (Carper).

These continuous field activities conducted by the DAR are evidence that despite the inconveniences brought by the pandemic, the service for the Filipino people lives on, the agency said. (PR)
