A 57-year-old street sweeper was injured after being struck by his neighbor in Brgy. Cotcot, Liloan town in northern Cebu on Sunday afternoon, July 3, 2022.

Senior Master Sergeant Arni Goc-ong, investigating officer of Liloan Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Jose Cabatingan Pabular, of Sitio Sulima, Brgy. Cotcot, Liloan, Cebu.

Pabular works in Liloan Local Government Unit ( LGU).

Goc-ong identified the suspect as Romolu Pacaña, 58 of Sitio Sulima, Brgy. Cotcot, Liloan, Cebu.

Goc-ong told SunStar Cebu that based on their initial investigation, around 2 p.m of July 3, Pabular was about to buy a bottle of liquor as they were having a drinking session.

Pabular got mad that the money that was given to him was not enough to buy the liquor resulting to a fight using huge wood sticks.

Barangay police officers brought the two parties to Liloan MPS and eventually they settled.

Around 4:50 p.m on July 3, 2022, Pabular was sitting down beside the road when Pacaña appeared carrying a bat and struck Pabular once in the head causing injury.

Pacaña was arrested by the responding police officers at his residence.

On the other hand, Pabular was brought to Danao City District Hospital for medication.

Goc-ong said that Pacaña retaliated in the earlier altercation involving his friend and Pabular.

"Mahulog ni nga revenge, kay around 2pm naay binunalay na nga nahitabo nga na pacified ra unya karon mas grabe ni kay nagkadugo dugo ang biktima." Goc-ong said.

Liloan Police advised the family of Pabular to go to a hospital so Pabular could have his medico-legal report.

The two parties are willing to settle it amicably but Goc-ong said that they will get ready all the documents for the filing of the case in case Pacana's family would change their minds.

Pacaña is currently detained at Liloan custodial facility and will face charges of frustrated murder.
