1 killed, 11 injured in accidents

A 9-year-old girl was killed when she was hit by a speeding car and was run-over by a tricycle in Bago City while 11 were injured in another accident in Talisay on Saturday and yesterday, July 2 and 3, respectively.

Colporal Kim Ivern Coronel said the victim, whose name he withheld for being a minor suddenly crossed Rizal Street in Barangay Lag-asan on at about 10 a.m. Saturday.

Driver Nat Arnel Amar, 28, of Riego Street in Pulupandan, who said he was heading west of the road, told the police that he attempted to evade the victim but failed.

The victim was thrown off to the opposite lane and was then run-over by the approaching tricycle driven by Roniel Negare, 26, of Purok Tuburan in Barangay Malingin, Bago City and was carrying sacks of feeds.

The victim died upon arrival at the Bago City Hospital while the four passengers of the car were unharmed.

Both Amar and Negare were taken into police custody although they were released yesterday after the lapse their reglementary period, Coronel told SunStar Bacolod.

Meanwhile, 11 were injured including a three months old baby boy and another three-year-old boy, when the van they were riding fell on its side at Sitio Mambucano in Barangay Cabatangan in Talisay City past noontime yesterday.

Traffic investigator Staff Sergeant Ryan Calalas said the victims, who only sustained minor injuries were rushed to the Metro Bacolod Hospital and Medical Center.

Calasas said that the van was heading south of the road when it fell on its right side after the driver, whose name he did not disclosed, lost control over the vehicle.

The victims, who are neighbors and friends, came from an outing in a resort prior to the accident.
