A HIGH-VALUE TARGET (HVT) drug pusher was killed in a shootout with lawmen in an anti-drug operation that resulted to the confiscation of some P340,000 worth of illegal drugs in Zamboanga City, the local police reported Monday, July 4, 2022.
Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said that the shootout happened around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, July 3, in Tugbungan village.
Lorenzo identified the slain HVT drug personality as Reynante Alvarez, 54, who is the top 5 drug personality in the list of the ZCPO and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the city.
The shootout ensued as the suspect resisted upon sensing that he was transacting to an undercover government agent, according to Lorenzo.
He said recovered from the possession of the suspect were some 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000, a .9-millimter pistol with ammunition, a motorcycle, a bundle of boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill, P150 cash in different denominations, four keys, a wallet, eight different identification cards, a cellular phone, and an empty pack of cigarettes.
