Empowered women of Zonta Club of Bacolod: "I do" to service, advocacies

EMPOWERED women continue to advocate for the welfare of other women in the community.

Zonta Club of Bacolod, a group of outstanding leading women in various fields, prides itself in empowering women through service and advocacy.

A joint installation of Officers and Induction of new members was conducted last June 2, 2022, at Bantug Lake Ranch in Bacolod City.

Immediate Past President Clarissa Araneta passed the baton of leadership to its new President, Maria Remedios Bantug, for the Biennium 2022-2024.

They said their I do's to their calling to service and advocacy. Alongside the new Presidency are its officers that would work hand-in-hand in creating programs and advocacies that are true to Zonta's mission and vision.

The new officers were installed by Zontian Area 3 Director Teresita Apistar.

To make the event more memorable, several Keynote Speakers took the stage to congratulate the club for its accomplishments and to continue pursuing its undying service to the community.

The speakers present were Board member Rita Gatuslao of the Fifth District of Negros Occidental and the Committee Chair on Women, Children, and Family Affairs and Bacolod City Councilors Celia Flor, and Paoline Sy.

Meanwhile, Vice Area 3 Director Ma. Teresa "Tess" Chan from Zonta Club of Cebu 1 conducted the induction of the new members.

This new breed of members could surely bolster Zonta by contributing new, meaningful, and valuable ideas to the club, she said, "Zonta Club of Bacolod also prides itself on its accomplishments in the previous biennium, including its candidate for the Young Women in Public Affairs Awards of Zonta International, Princess Nicole Magalona."

She was given a chance to express her gratitude and appreciation for the said event, and she was also given a certificate of recognition by the club.

The event also highlighted performances from its partner organizations like the Holy Family Home Bacolod Foundation and the Cameleon Association of the Philippines.

These organizations are one of Zonta's main channels of extending assistance to the survivors of violence against women and children. During the event, they showcased their extraordinary talents in dancing and gymnastics.

Immediate past president Araneta also recognized the efforts of various people that helped her in her Presidency. Special recognition awards were given to Marilyn Maranon, Maria Remedios Bantug, Tess Nazarea, and Rocky Puentevella for going the extra mile and helping the organization reach greater heights.

The corresponding representatives of each organization, namely Sr. Maricel Fuerzas from HFH and Gee Ibanez of Cameleon Bacolod, were given short messages of gratitude.
