THREE department heads of the Cebu Provincial Government have retired while another official has not renewed his appointment as Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia starts her fifth term.

In a press conference on Monday, July 4, 2022, Garcia said Dr. Christina Giango, head of the Provincial Health Office (PHO); Ramon Dumayac, head of the Provincial Accounting Office; and Marivic Garces, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) have retired from government service.

Aside from the three department heads, Provincial Administrator Noli Valencia also didn’t renew his appointment despite being a coterminus employee due to reasons related to his health.

Replacements

Garcia said Dr. Rannie Corazon Pepito-Gravador is currently the PHO’s acting head after Giango recommended her to the governor.

For PSWDO, Dr. Mary Rose Vincoy, who currently heads the Provincial Veterinary Office, will serve as acting head until Garcia will be able to get a permanent replacement for Garces.

Garcia said that she is still waiting for Dumayac’s recommendation on who will replace him as head of the Provincial Accounting Office.

As to Valencia’s case, Garcia said she wants the next provincial administrator to have “institutional knowledge” in order to keep up with the demands of the position.

“I will not doubt your competence but you have to make up for your institutional knowledge,” Garcia added.

Garcia has hoped that the future officers-in-charge of the four offices will show true dedication and service to the public.
