FORMER Cordova town mayor Mary Therese “Teche” Sitoy-Cho denied allegations hurled against her by her successor, newly elected Mayor Cesar “Didoy” Suan, that she stripped all the furniture from her office when she stepped down from her post.
Sitoy-Cho told SunStar Cebu that the furniture she took from the office were her personal property, and not of the municipality.
“As long as wala’y resibo ang munisipyo, then it’s not the property of the municipality and dili ba diay pwede nga magdala ko’g akoang lamesa. Gibawal ba diay na sa gobyerno?” said the former mayor, adding she did not donate her furniture to the government.
Suan earlier said they would conduct an inventory of the municipal government’s property after he was welcomed with a bare office when he assumed office on June 30, 2022.
Suan said he did not expect that the previous administration would move things out of the municipal hall. He claimed that the things that were kept there were “government property.”
Receipts
Sitoy-Cho, however, said she had receipts to prove that she bought everything she had taken, including the table, chairs, and sofa, among others.
She stressed that she did not bring with her any property of the government, which have stickers attached on them.
Sitoy-Cho, however, clarified that she also secured a certificate from the Treasurer’s Office for her belongings.
She advised the new administration to look into the inventory conducted by the offices of the Treasurer and Accounting.
