JEALOUSY led a 38-year-old man to stab to death his former lover’s partner in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, northern Cebu on Monday night, July 4, 2022.

Police identified the fatality as Ranilo Goc-ong, 40, a resident of Barangay Santa Cruz, Liloan town.

Christel Mae Bacus, 26, Goc-ong’s girlfriend, is currently at the hospital after she sustained several stab wounds.

Staff Sgt. Roel Aquino, the investigator, said that they have launched a search for Bacus’ former lover, Norwel Cabaña.

According to Aquino, Cabaña went to Bacus’ house in Consolacion town after finding out that she already had a new boyfriend.

Angered that his former lover had replaced him, Cabaña reportedly decided to plan the crime.

Around 10 p.m. on Monday, Goc-ong and Bacus were about to ride a motorcycle to Liloan town when Cabaña suddenly approached them and started stabbing them using a sharp object, possibly a knife.

After stabbing the two victims, Cabaña then fled, bringing along with him the murder weapon.

Goc-ong succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

Aquino said that based on information they got from Cabaña’s relatives, the suspect had wanted to reconcile with Bacus but he decided to commit the crime after hearing that she already replaced him with Goc-ong.

Cabaña is set to face murder and frustrated murder charges.
