THE Department of Health (DOH) assured the public on Monday, July 4, 2022, that all the services and activities of the agency, including Covid-19 response efforts, are ongoing.

The assurance came as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has yet to appoint a DOH secretary as of this posting Tuesday, July 5. His Press Secretary, Trixie Cruz-Angeles, said Monday that the President is evaluating and choosing carefully the candidates for the post.

Angelez also said Monday that pending the appointment of the new DOH secretary, all operations, including policies and guidelines of the DOH with regards to the Covid-19 response, are on status quo.

DOH Undersecretary Lilibeth David, in a message during the agency’s first flag ceremony under the Marcos administration, assured the public and staff of the health department that all the services and efforts of the agency will continue.

“We eagerly await the announcement of the name of the new secretary of Health. We look forward to working with our new secretary on delivering services that promote the people’s health,” she said.

The DOH has been continuing pandemic response and other operations under the leadership of its senior career officials.

David leads the DOH Health Policy and Systems Development Team and Health Facilities and Infrastructure Development Team, with the assistance of Assistant Secretary Kenneth Ronquillo.

“The DOH continues to serve our people, delivering the best, and further developing programs and policies for a better and Healthy Pilipinas. Whoever becomes our new secretary, our commitment to cater to the health needs of every Juan and Juana will be upheld,” she added. (LMY/With PR)
