LAST Thursday, June 30, 2022 Mayor elect Maria Lourdes Paras Lacson was sworn into office, followed with simple but memorable inauguration of her landslide victory over her number one political opponent in the last May 9, local election. Holy Mass was also celebrated by seven Parish Priests, the first of a kind in the history of political landscape in the town of Magalang.
The occasion was well attended by her family, relatives, friends, supporters, barangay officials and elected Municipal officials. There was an apparent manifestation of joy and happiness among the invited guests, hugging with each other, shaking hands and sharing a bright and beautiful smile with one another. After a brief program, holy mass and other activities, the PSAU Dance Group performed a popular and graceful native dance. A number of PNP Personnel from the PNP Regional Training School also contributed a military parade in honor of the elected Local Chief Executive.
One of the important highlights of the oathtaking and inauguration was the impromptu speech of Honorable Mayor Malu. Silence reigned among the attendees while the elected Mayor was delivering her inspirational message. All areas of concern were clearly emphasized in her speech, including the sustainable growth of town's economy, improvement of peace and order, health and safety of Magalenos specially among senior citizens and farmers and bringing back the town of Magalang to its usual status as the cleanest and greenest town not only in the province of Pampanga but the whole Central Luzon.
This can be attained through the unselfish and unwavering participation of every Magaleno. Thereby converting it as a tourist destination. Since election is over, let us set aside political differences and move forward to our dreams and aspiration of oneness and unity among ourselves for the sake of the present and future generation, she stressed in her speech.
At the end of the day if we sincerely devote ourselves on these priorities and objectives there is always a bright hope for all of us, therefore making the town of Magalang an enviable community to live in, she added.
