Mission Accomplished For CMORFA Boys

THE Camiguin-Misamis Oriental Regional Football Association (CMORFA) lads of coach Ivan Caiña breezed past Surigao de Norte and Dinagat Islands RFA (SNDIRFA) 2-1, to complete their sweep of Group G in the PFF Boys U19 Championships 2022 elimination tournament here at the Pelaez Sports Stadium.

Striker Lyle Dy once again starred for the host team as he chipped in the go ahead goal in the 7th minute.

Dy of Rosevale School, chipped in a beauty over the head of SNDIRFA’s goalkeeper Jan Christian Maucesa after receiving a pass from winger Kent Quieta.

The SNDIRFA boys however came back to life when CMORFA’s Pedro Tagara gifted them with an own goal in the 28th.

Tagara instead of passing the ball to their goalkeeper Ramsfield Solis, cleared the ball to their goal to draw the match.

The youngest player on the pitch, 16-year-old Kinsey Yañez then put the CMORFA boys ahead once again in the 44th minute with a beautiful header from a corner kick.

The midfielder from Corpus Christi School, towered from the rest to hammer in the winning goal that formalized CMORFA’s entry to the Visayas-Mindanao National Group stage scheduled next month at still un-specified venue.

Coach Ivan saId in a post game interview that he experimented in match as they have nothing to lose. “Even if we kick the ball to our own goal 90 times we still qualify as Butuan Agusan del Norte Football Association (BANFA) drew with Agusan del Sur Surigao del Sur Regional FA (AGSSURFA), 1-1 in the first match,” he said.

No teams could catch up anymore with the CMORFA boys as they have already an insurmountable lead with two wins before the match against SNDIRFA started.

BANFA finished the tournament with one win, one draw one loss and four points. AGSSURFA lads ended their tournament with one draw, two losses and one point while SNDIRFA also had one draw, two losses and one point.

“It is important to test the squad’s depth since I was informed by the match commissioner and the referee’s assessor that a yellow card acquired on the 1st and 2nd matched will not reset after the third match,” he said.

He added that the cautions would be carried over to the National final round and they have to prepare for the worst case scenario should our players be suspended for one match due to two accumulated yellow cards.

The coaching staff which include Jerome Dela Peña and Dan Aquino, and the players will rest for a week and then prepare for the Vis-Min National Group stage at still un-specified venue.
