GS-Sherilin imposed their will in the second half to defeat CHBC, 67-52, and capture the championship in the Metro Cebu Basketball League Summer League 15-Under division last Friday at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court.
It was a close game early on as GS-Sherilin led by just two, 24-22, at halftime. However, the tempo changed in the third as GS-Sherilin came off the break, firing on all cylinders and uncorking an 23-5 run to take a huge 18-point lead, 45-27.
CHBC showed some fight and trimmed the deficit down to eight, 40-48, heading to the last canto. However, GS-Sherilin would not be denied as they raised their lead back to double-digits and hung on for the win to claim the crown.
Krstsc Da Silva had a remarkable double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds to power the GS-Sherilin team of head coach Gerald Ylaya and team owner, Richard Mercado.
Xian Caro also had a double-double of his own with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Jireh Caro added 11 markers as well.
Tino Martinez led CHBC with 13 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks.
