1994 defeats 1997 to force logjam at the top in USPF Alumni Panthers Cup

Batch 1994 took down 1997, 61-53, to force a five-way tie for the lead in the standings in Bracket A of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Alumni Association Panthers Cup Season 2 Inter-Batch Basketball Tournament last Sunday at the Capitol Parish Gym.

Jojo Quilab led the way for 1994 with 15 points. More importantly, Batch 1994’s victory forced a logjam for the lead in the standings with four other squads, as they all hold similar 3-1 records.

Batch 1998 trounced 1991, 81-70, thanks to Anthony Inoc’s 12 markers, while Batch 1999 handed 1996 a 63-44 beatdown, with Luis Enero pumping in 23 points and five rebounds. Both 1998 and 1999 also have 3-1 cards.

Meanwhile, Batch 1992 beat 1995, 56-52, as Rey Dagopioso tallied 21 points. 1992 and 1995 now have identical 3-1 cards.

Over in Bracket B, Batch 2008 remained undefeated at 5-0 as they thumped 2000, 58-47. Norman Bordalba scored 11 points to lead the way for 2008.

Batch 2011 also triumphed over 2001, 59-57, with Kirby Navarro leading the way with 12 points, to notch their third win in four games.

And lastly, Batch 2014 picked up their second victory of the tournament after defeating 2002, 63-53. Sam Cantillas had 24 markers and five boards in 2014’s win.
