ALMOST P2 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in separate buy-busts in Cebu for two days on July 5-6, 2022.

First to be arrested on Tuesday, July 5, at 6 p.m. was a public school teacher identified as Brendo Aringay Villafranca, 34, of Barangay Kansi, Tuburan town.

Seized from him were packs of suspected shabu worth around P2,000 and his motorcycle.

Around 11 p.m. on the same day, a certain Lilia Hernane, 52, was nabbed in her house in Bamboo Village, Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City by the operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas.

Hernane yielded five grams of shabu worth around P34,000 during the raid.

In Barangay Cayang, Bogo City, northern Cebu, 192.48 grams of alleged shabu worth P1.2 million were seized from drug suspect James Paul Yuson Villegas, 30, at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6.

Operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit led by Maj. Joey Bicoy led the arrest of Villegas.

Lt. Col. Florendo Fajardo, chief of the Bogo City Police Station, said Villegas’s cohort, identified as Deo Quontana, was able to flee from police.

Both Villegas and Quontana are included in the station’s list of high-value individuals, Fajardo added.

Later at 12:38 a.m. on Wednesday, a call center agent identified as Ronnel Ledesma Cabaron, also a high-value individual, yielded 50 grams of illegal drugs amounting to P340,000 during a buybust in Barangay Bulacao in Talisay City.

Another drug suspect, Jojie Diaz, 27, of Sitio Huyong- Huyong, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, was arrested by the police for having in his possession 53 grams of suspected shabu worth P360,400.

The suspects will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (GPL, AYB, BBT / TPT)
