CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama will be out for two weeks for a vacation starting Friday, July 8, said Cerwin Eviota, public information officer of the Cebu City Government.
Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia will serve for the first time as acting mayor of the city from July 8 to 22, but Eviota said Rama will go to Malacañang Thursday, July 7, for a meeting related to the League of Cities of the Philippines.
Rama earlier expressed interest in becoming president of league of city mayors in the country.
Before he left for Manila, Rama called for a meeting with all department heads of the City Thursday, July 7, to inform them about his leave of absence and to ensure that the services of the City Hall will not be affected.
City Administrator Suzzane Ardosa, Chief-of-Staff Dominic Diño, Secretary to the Mayor Collin Rossell and Human Resources manager Remy Mondigo have been instructed to monitor and ensure that all employees report to work.
He told the department heads: "When the cat is away, do not play." (PAC/LMY)
