GOVERNOR Dennis “Delta” Pineda on Wednesday assured that students, under the Educational Finance Assistance Program (EFAP) of the Capitol, will continue to receive their financial assistance during his second term.

“We apologize if the assistance was a bit late because of the recent elections. But this time I assure you that you will continue to receive from the program as long as you are committed to finishing your schooling,” Pineda told the 1,255 student-scholars from different towns of the second district who attended Wednesday’s financial assistance distribution at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

Pineda said the program will continue as long as government funds permit. Each EFAP college scholar receives P4,000 per semester. Pineda said the only requirement is students pursue their studies.

Some 103,747 Kapampangan students have benefitted from the P342-million EFAP of the gvernor. From the 103,747 scholars, 52,789 are college students and 49,383 are Grade 12 students. Grade 12 beneficiaries received some P57,515,000 for School Year 2021 to 2022.

From 2020 to 2021, the provincial government gave out P24,733,000 and P23,283,000 for the first and second semesters, respectively to college Efap beneficiaries.

The provincial government had also given out some P6,184,000 financial assistance to Alternative Learning System learners (ALS) for 2021. The total assistance given to ALS learners in the last three years of Pineda’s term has reached P9,330,000.

The Efap provides financial assistance to indigent students to help them defray school-related expenses. The program covers scholars in college as well as senior high school.

The governor added that aside from the EFAP, the provincial government assists out-of-school youth and other underprivileged Kapampangans get a good education through the Alternative Learning System.
