CITY Social Welfare and Development Office-Davao (CSWDO-Davao) said 92 preschoolers enrolled in the school year 2021-2022 are still malnourished after their supplementary feeding program.

“Adunay 157 [enrolled students], after sa 120 feeding days, naa nay nabilin nga 92 ka mga bata kato lang enrolled sa daycare centers ug home-based (There are 157 enrolled students but after the 120 feeding days of the supplemental feeding program there are still 92 malnourished children who are enrolled in the daycare centers and home-based),” Ellen Bugnos, Focal Person Supplemental Feeding Program of Preschoolers and Childrens Concern Division (PSCCD), CSWDO-Davao said in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on July 11, 2022.

Bugnos said these students were referred to the City Health Office-Davao (CHO-Davao) for intervention.

“Kay naa man sa ilaha didto ang programa and intervention nga tama kung unsaon nato ni nga mga bata kay nahumana sila sa atoa still mao man ilahang nutritional status (We refer them to CHO because they have the right programs and intervention on what to do with these children since we already implemented and finished our program but they still have the same nutritional status),” Bugnos said.

Bugnos said they are monitoring these children monthly.

“Monthly ni sila gina-weigh sa mga daycare worker nato in coordination with BNS (Brgy Nutrition Scholar), unya ginatagaan ang mga ginikanan og seminar sa health and nutrition, unsaon pag-take care ang ilahang mga anak nga undernourished, unya hisgutan ang kanang unsa ang mga pamaagi para mo-angat ang ilahang timbang, unsa ang buhaton para ang bata mokaon gyud og maayo (The daycare worker in coordination with the BNS weigh these children, then we conduct a seminar about health and nutrition for the parents, on how to take care of their undernourished children, also we’ll discuss on what are the ways to gain weight and what should they do to encourage their children to eat more),” Bugnos said.

Meanwhile, Bugnos said they will conduct orientation to all the daycare workers in the 14 districts of Davao City on how to properly weigh the students, monitor, record, and what is the supplementary feeding program in preparation for face-to-face classes this August 2022. KSD
