THE Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has announced that its average residential rate for the billing month of July 2022 is P14.1881 per kilowatt hour (kWh).

The figure is P2.0710 per kWh higher from last month’s rate of P12.1171 per kWh.

Ceneco Acting General Manager Ervin Stan Leo Ticar, in an advisory Friday, July 15, said the upward adjustment can be attributed to the increase in generation, transmission and system loss charges caused by the surge in Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) fuel rate from P6.4963 to P8.0841.

Tocar said there’s also an increase in power cost, and other pass through charges such as Lifeline and Senior, Generation Rate Adjustment Mechanism - Incremental Currency Exchange Rate Adjustment (Gram Icera) adjustment and value-added tax (VAT).

The pass-through charges equivalent to P13.0015 per kWh of the total power rate included the generation and transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes, he added.

Ceneco caters to electric consumers in cities of Bago, Bacolod, Talisay and Silay, and towns of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto.

The power distribution utility explained that only P1.1866 per kWh of the power rate goes to Ceneco through Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) Charges and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable Capex (RFSC) for its administrative and operational services, the utility said.

Since 2010, Ceneco’s DSM and RFSC rate has not increased, it added.

The cooperative said that for every kWh consumed by residential consumers, about 10 to 14 percent of the total bill amount goes to Ceneco.

Ticard said that in monitoring the monthly electricity usage, consumers are advised to look at their kilowatt-hour consumption and not on the bill amount since it varies depending on the pass-through charges as shown above.

“While the world market fuel prices remain volatile and may affect our electricity rates, Ceneco Board and Management continue to remind its electricity consumers to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills,” he added.
