Ronald O’Shoppe stuns Cokaliong-ARQ to force rubbermatch in MCBL Season 6

Ronald O’Shoppe kept their season alive as they came all the way back from a 22-point deficit to stun the mighty Cokaliong-ARQ, 91-85, in the playoff games of the Metro Cebu Basketball League Season 6 last Sunday at the Benedicto College gym.

Things looked good early on for the previously unbeaten Cokaliong-ARQ squad as they raced off to a huge 22-point lead, 47-25. However, Ronald O’Shoppe showed remarkable resilience and went on a 15-0 scoring binge in the fourth to complete the upset and forge a winner-take-all match.

Emmanuel Villamor once again stepped up, piling up 31 points and 11 rebounds. He also got lots of help from Sean Rubio who had 18 points and six boards.

Herocrish Molero was a monster down low, producing 16 points and 17 boards to go with three steals and two blocks. Nikko Chavez also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds along with four steals and two blocks.

Also forging a do-or-die game was Smarties Apparel which routed Targeted Ads, 106-76. Jhamer Burns had 30 points and 14 rebounds, while Ramon Singson added 24 markers to help keep their hopes for the next round alive.

Meanwhile, advancing to the round of 16 were reigning champions Sherilin Plastics, Tech Mahindra, and Ballers.

Sherilin ousted the RBH Construction, 127-111, as Zylle Cabellon exploded for 40 points highlighted by 10 three-pointers. Former University of Southern Philippines Foundation King Panther James Ferraren also had an efficient game, compiling 27 points on 12-of-14 shooting to go with 12 rebounds and five assists.

Tech Mahindra disposed of the Ballers, 105-64, while Lite Shipping routed the Enemiez, 87-66. Steven Cabanday led Tech Mahindra with 19 points and three steals, while Franco Te filled the stat sheet for Lite Shipping, registering 13 points, eight boards, six assists, and three steals.
