THE Tropical Diseases Prevention and Control Unit (TDPCU) of the City Health Office-Davao (CHO-Davao) said the dengue cases in Davao City are under control.
As of July 18, TDPCU reported that based on their partial data, there are 62 dengue cases recorded in the city. Meanwhile, they have already recorded 867 cases from January to June 2022.
Elizabeth Banzon, TDPCU and Nutrition Division Head, said in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on July 18, 2022 that the dengue situation in Davao City remains manageable with the current measures in place to prevent a large outbreak.
“Nag-sige tag bisita proactively sa atoang mga barangays, unya atong mga barangay pud naay mga task-forces, naa pud silay ilahang team nga nagaadto-adto pud sa mga purok nila (We proactively visit the barangays, which have their own task force to check on the puroks from time to time),” Banzon said.
They have also allotted Nonstructural Protein 1 (NS1) antigen tests in the health centers. The NS1 antigen test is a rapid test that would detect if a patient has dengue or not.
“Libre na, need lang nato nga after two days nga kalintura magpakonsulta (It is for free. If you have a fever for two days you have to schedule a consultation [with the doctor]),” Banzon said.
Meanwhile, she reminds the public to follow best practices to control the spread of dengue.
“Atong tan-awon ang behavior matag-isa, dapat gyud na batasanan nga mag-oplan kulob, taklob-yabo kay sa karun man gud naa pa gihapoy pipila nga makalimot, naa gihapon mga ligid, mga drums (Let’s be vigilant, we need to practice ‘oplan-kulob’ and ‘taklob-yabo’ because we see that there are still people who forget to do it. There are still tires and drums that have not been cleaned),” Banzon said. KSD
