Exercise for erectile dysfunction (Part 2)

(Foreword: This is the continuation of our response to Jerome B. on his quest for exercise for erectile dysfunction.)

Dear Jerome B.,

Yes. Kegel exercise can help your problem. But, be sure that you are squeezing it right. One way to know if you are doing it correctly is by trying to stop your urine flow for a few seconds. If you can do this, then you are on the right track.

But, don’t just settle with the length of time you are familiar with as you are getting along with these exercises. Increase the length of time that you can squeeze it and hold your different pelvic muscles. Try also increasing the number of repetitions or sets of exercises that you are doing.

And when you are doing these exercises, please remember the following tips:

1. Don’t ever hold your breath. Breath in and out.

2. Don’t push down — but, instead, try to squeeze your pelvic muscles together tightly as if

you are trying to lift something up with those muscles.

3. Keep your stomach muscles relaxed throughout your activity.

4. Be sure to relax your pelvic floor muscles between each squeeze.

And remember that the key here is patience. You can’t get the result overnight. As a matter of fact, most men see only the results after about a month of daily exercise. And you are doing it right, if by the end of the month, you would be able to hold the squeezes for 10 seconds, and be able to do eight to 10 sets.

But, should you feel any pain in these exercises, stop what you are doing immediately.
