ZAMBOANGUEÑO athletes continue to make waves in the ongoing Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Rosegie Ramos, 18, from Mampang village, and Rosalinda Faustino from Mercedes hauled three gold medals each in their respective categories, as they represent the Philippines in the international event.
Ramos and Faustino are coached by Allen Diaz and Gregorio Colonia, respectively.
Total medal haul for the Zamboangueño athletes, as of Wednesday evening, is 12 golds, two silvers and one bronze.
On Monday, July 18, Rose Jean Amis Ramos harvested four gold, one silver and one bronze medals in the 45-kilogram category. Rose Jean is the sister of Rosegie.
Angeline Colonia on Sunday, July 17, also won two gold and one silver medals and set a new Asian and World Record in the snatch.
Angeline is the sister of Nestor Colonia, another forerunner in national and international weightlifting competitions.
The Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship is held from July 15 to 25, 2022.
