THE municipality of Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur has commended, through a resolution, Lieutenant Colonel Jo-ar Herrera, 53rd Infantry Battalion (IB) commander, for his invaluable efforts and contributions in achieving an insurgency-free Kumalarang.
At the same time, the municipality of Kumalarang has commended Herrera for his efforts that led to the peaceful and harmonious National and Local Elections (NLE 2022) in the municipality.
Mayor Ruel Molina of Kumalarang presented to Herrera a copy of the resolution commending the latter in a simple ceremony Monday, July 18, at the municipal hall of Kumalrang.
A Certificate of Commendation was also presented by Molina to Herrera for his valuable efforts and meritorious contributions being the battalion commander who spearheaded all operations and undertakings designed to combat terrorism in the municipality.
The commendation further certifies and recognizes the exemplary leadership and valor exemplified by Herrera during the NLE 2022 in securing and achieving a peaceful, honest and violence-free elections last May 9, 2022.
For his part, Herrera expressed his gratitude to Molina for the commendations.
“I offer this commendation and accomplishment to the whole of 53IB. Their excellence, dedication, and passion for duty are vital to these achievements,” Herrera said.
In September 2021, the Municipality of Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur was declared "insurgency-free and ready for development" by virtue of Municipal Resolution No. 100 Series of 2021. (SunStar Zamboanga)
