PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed Yogi Filemon Ruiz as commissioner of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in an acting capacity, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Angeles said Ruiz, the former Central Visayas regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), took his oath on Wednesday.
Ruiz hit headlines in 2017 when they ordered persons deprived of liberty to remove all their clothes, including inner wears, during the conduct of a greyhound operation at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center.
The subject of the operation was illegal contrabands inside the facility.
Ruiz then said that they made the detainees strip naked for the safety of both the PDLs and the raiding team.
Meanwhile, Marcos named Cesar Chiong as the acting general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and Edgardo Diaz and Manuel Antonio Tamayo as the deputy director generals of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap).
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista will also serve as an acting director general of Caap.
The Civil Aeronautics Board will remain under the leadership of Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla while the Office for Transportation Security will be under a new administrator -- Ma. O Ranada Aplasca.
For the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina), Marcos has appointed Hernani Nieves Fabia as the new administrator. (SunStar Philippines)
